Grant from Brazos Valley Cares supports Veterans in local Assisted Living Homes

Earl Graham Post 159 American Legion in Bryan Texas got into the holiday season by packing and distributing over 130 gift bags to senior veterans living in retirement communities in Bryan and College Station.  The bags included puzzle books, snacks, socks, and handmade blankets which were crafted by members of the local quilt guild and Auxiliary Unit 159.

Post 159 Chaplain Don Hutchcraft organized the project and contacted the local retirement homes to find out what was needed by those seniors.  Hutchcraft said that it warms the heart to get into those communities and meet with the veterans during the holiday season.  Some of those veterans no longer have families and this might be the only gift they will receive this year. Brazos Valley Cares
funded the project along with several other projects through a grant to the American Legion Post.

This is just one example of how Brazos Valley Cares partners with veteran service organizations and community non-profits to take care of our veterans in the Brazos Valley.
